By means of a collaborative project with Astra Research, a service provider with head office in Modena, the PEI Mobility team was able to complete the development of the new articulation joint in composite material, leading to the patent filed in 2014.
Engineers, researchers and technicians shared their expertise and capacity for innovation in order to attain a single, unique objective: the design of a new, innovative joint made in carbon, lighter than metal versions and therefore capable of reducing the vehicle’s overall environmental impact, and that could be reproduced on an industrial scale.
After a design phase and severe tests, the lightest joint on the market was born. A real technological breakthrough for the gangway systems application.
